Keepsake Ribbon

I made this custom and complimentary ribbon to wrap around the Sleepy Sock Monkey blanket. I sewed together four strips of the fabric that I used to create the nursery decor and bedding, including the selvage from one of the cotton prints which had the designer and fabric information on it. This custom ribbon created a beautiful way to secure the rolled blanket for gift giving, without having to spend money on paper gift wrap, as well as provided the recipient with a keepsake sample of her child's nursery colors, fabric, and theme.

After rummaging through the boxes marked "Diane" in my parent's attic, I discovered some of my baby clothes that I had used to dress dolls. They were stained and the elastic around the legs were brittle, but they seemed too wonderful to put back in the box. The idea soon came to me to reclaim these rompers and sew new life into them as sacks for my daughter, who loves carrying around my bags. With very little tailoring, my old romper became a new place for treasures to be collected and for pretend play to flourish.
